Description

This beautiful, original mixed media artwork was created by the artist, Robynne Engel-Pirkle. This piece was inspired by Robynne’s “word for 2019”, which is “balance”. She came up with the above vision and idea upon waking one morning in the first week of the new year. As it is for most serious artists, creating and daydreaming are heavily weighted on the day’s agenda, while “paper work” and other “tedious jobs” tend to take a back seat. The elephant on the left has circa 1800’s ledger papers, and is holding a pencil in his trunk. This is in contrast to the “artsy” elephant on the right, who is covered in more organic matter and a bit more color,  complete with a paintbrush coiled safely in her trunk . The background of this painting is layered in vivid shades of red. The elephants are layered in vintage papers and gray tones depicting every bump and wrinkle. This mixed media painting’s substrate is a 16 x 20″ birch wood cradled canvas 1/2′ deep, sides painted black.
